Marquette County was founded on the iron ore mining industry in a rugged environment. Our hardworking ancestors who helped create this multi-million dollar industry instilled a work ethic in their children, which lives strong today. Hardworking people with a commitment to excellence, loyalty and education; Marquette County's workforce has always been its greatest natural resource.

American Communications Network, Inc. (A.C.N.) an international telecommunications firm located its customer service center at Sawyer in Marquette County. Although financial incentives played a role in their decision, the quality and loyalty of our workforce swayed the decision. A blind employment ad demonstrated that not only did Marquette County have a tremendously educated and loyal workforce, but that many people were willing to relocate from other states and urban areas.
