Cleveland- Cliffs Michigan Operations (CCMO), is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support CCMO.  The specific responsibilities of the position include: Manage civil and structural engineering projects from cost estimates, materials specifications, calculations, design of structures, supports and facilities to the construction phase.   Direct and coordinate work performed by engineering consultants and contractors.   Inspect construction sties and direct and coordinate work performed by operating employees to monitor progress and ensure conformity to engineering plans, specifications, construction and safety standards.   Provide civil and structural technical guidance and expertise to management, engineers, and operating employees on a daily basis.   Inspect, analyze and determine the structural integrity of overhead cranes, building floors and roofs following overload conditions caused by misuse, spillage, dust or snow build-up.   Perform structural analysis and design structural repairs for building structures and equipment supports that become worn out through normal usage or degrading due to corrosion.   Conduct studies and prepare reports on project feasibility and cost projections.   Make recommendations for potential cost-saving projects.

Education Needed:M.S. Degree-Civil Engineering with focus on Structural Engineering. B.S. may be considered with adequate experience.

Experience Needed:3-5 years focused on structural engineering with a professional engineer license.

About us: Cleveland Cliffs Michigan Operations primary a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., located near Marquette, Michigan, is a large open pit mining operation that provides iron ore to tow plant processing facilities. The processing plants beneficiate mining operation into high grade iron concentrate is then heat treated by a pelletizing process for shipment as feed to blast furnaces used in the steel making process.  CCMO produces approximately 13 million tons of iron ore pellets annually.
