POSITION SUMMARY

The Outreach & Development position supports LSCP’s investor relations, marketing, events, and public relations activities. This position is responsible for investor recruitment, retention, and management efforts, assisting with business visits, and coordinating various external-facing programs. As one of LSCP’s primary “front line” staff, this position is often the first point of contact for visitors and partners and is expected to uphold the organization’s professional image.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES

Investor Relations & Business Development

  • Implement activities that support investor recruitment, retention, and growth, ensuring alignment with LSCP’s membership goals.
  • Conduct partner and prospect visits to promote LSCP’s offerings and provide support for business retention and expansion.
  • Serve as a primary contact for new and existing investors, providing high-quality customer service and solutions-oriented support.
  • Work alongside the CEO to curate large dollar investors to the LSCP and donors to the LSCP Foundation.

Events & Program Coordination

  • Assist in the planning and execution of LSCP’s major events, including but not limited to the Annual Dinner, Golf Outing, Breakfast and Business, Small Business Celebration, P3MQT Exchange, and NMU Fall Fest.
  • Coordinate Business After Hours events with partners.
  • Lead the Key to the County program, ensuring program success and member engagement.
  • Provide event staffing support, including networking functions and workshops, which may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Serve as the lead for LSCP’s social media strategy and day-to-day management, including content planning, creation, scheduling, engagement, and monitoring across all social media platforms.
  • Assist the Marketing Director with implementing marketing, and promotional activities.
  • Support the development and distribution of email broadcasts and internal communications.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Preferred familiarity with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) for marketing and event support.
  • Understanding of Northern Michigan’s geographic, economic, cultural, and political landscape.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • Combination of education and work experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business administration, communication, public administration, or a related field.
  • Two years of work experience in an office setting preferred.
  • Administrative support experience is a plus.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License.

TOTAL REWARDS INFORMATION

Dependent upon education, certifications, and experience with a hiring range established under the LSCP’s compensation and career advancement policy. This position may initially be hired at a Coordinator or Specialist level. This position is eligible for annual and quarterly bonus programs, Simple IRA, Paid Time Off (PTO), and Health/Vision/Dental (employee-only).

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS. Starting pay for this position is $41,400 – $43,400 for candidates meeting the minimum qualifications outlined above. The LSCP offers increased compensation for candidates who bring additional experience, credentials, and other unique assets to the team. The LSCP would consider candidates with at least five years of member relations/development to be hired at the Senior Specialist level, which provides opportunity for additional compensation. The position is eligible for all LSCP benefits, including health insurance, short-term disability, paid time off, holidays, Simple IRA (3% match), incentive-based bonuses, and more. The LSCP offers a flexible work environment, providing office space and a welcoming culture but allowing team members to work remotely when needed.
