Lake Superior Community Partnership Announces Planned CEO Transition in 2026
Current CEO Christopher Germain to remain with organization through process to ensure continuity and stability
MARQUETTE COUNTY — The Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP) today announced a planned leadership transition, with CEO Christopher Germain sharing his intention to step away from the role in 2026 to meet evolving family needs. The transition is being approached deliberately and in close partnership with the LSCP Board of Directors to ensure continuity, stability, and continued progress for the organization and the community it serves.
Germain will remain in his role throughout the search and transition process, continuing to lead the organization, support the team, and advance LSCP’s strategic priorities. The Board has initiated a formal search for the next CEO, with a focus on identifying a leader who can build on LSCP’s strong foundation and momentum.
“This is a planned and well-managed transition,” said Scott Knaffla, Chair of the LSCP Board of Directors. “Christopher’s advance notice and commitment to remain through the process puts the LSCP in a position of strength. Our organization is stable, our team is strong, and our strategic direction is clear. We are confident in our ability to continue delivering results for our members and the broader Marquette County community.”
Under Germain’s leadership, LSCP has strengthened its role as a comprehensive economic development organization and advanced major initiatives focused on housing, small business support, air service, childcare, healthcare, and other critical issues impacting the region’s long-term vitality. That work will continue uninterrupted throughout the transition.
“This was a personal decision driven by family considerations, but one I’ve approached thoughtfully and with the organization’s best interests in mind,” said Christopher Germain, CEO. “LSCP is in a strong place, and I remain fully committed to leading the organization through this transition. This is not a pause moment—our team will continue implementing improvements, advancing key initiatives, and supporting our members and communities every step of the way.”
The LSCP Board and leadership team remain aligned in their focus on execution, continuity, and long-term impact. Programs, services, partnerships, and advocacy efforts will continue as planned, with no disruption to day-to-day operations.
More information about the CEO search process is available at www.marquette.org/ceosearch, and the LSCP will provide updates as they become available. LSCP Partners will also have opportunities to be involved in the process.
