Love on Local Gift Card Program Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Posted by on May 20, 2021

Marquette County – The Lake Superior Community Partnership is excited to announce the one-year anniversary of the Love on Local Gift Card Program! This shop local program encourages active shopping at any local small business in Marquette County. It was originally kicked off to encourage local purchasing, a priority during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In one year, Love on Local has sold over $266,000 in gift cards. That is more than 2,650 prepaid cards being used at any local small business in Marquette County! There is a program app, monthly prizes for local spending, and a video series that helps market local businesses. By participating as Featured Businesses, over 65 Marquette County businesses are taking advantage of free marketing benefits.

Businesses interested in a no-cost Love on Local promotional marketing kit with detailed information on the program should contact loveonlocal@marquette.org to sign up. Featured Businesses will receive swag, flyers, and a decal for their door. Their logo will be featured on loveonlocal.com, social media, and on certain marketing pieces. It’s free and easy to sign up.

Gift cards can be used at any local small business in Marquette County that accepts Visa cards. Thanks to Program Underwriters AT&T, Eagle Mine, Enbridge, mBank, and Range Bank, this program is free for all small businesses to participate.

We’d like to thank Eagle Mine especially for their participation in this program. Using this platform, they’ve shown appreciation to their employees through Rockin Local gift cards. It is with support from businesses like Eagle Mine, and a community that feels strongly about ‘keeping it local’, that this program has been able to support small businesses in a time of uncertainty.

“The support from the Marquette County residents and businesses has been overwhelming in the best way. Our goal to improve our community’s economic health through the COVID-19 pandemic by creating a convenient way to support local businesses has been a success,” commented Megan O’Connor, LSCP Outreach Coordinator. “I applaud Marquette County for continuing to shop small – our community truly knows how to Love on Local.”
