LSCP Golf Outing

Amy ClicknerWith the weather getting nice and summer upon us, it is time for the LSCP’s Golf Outing. This year will be the 16th annual and we expect to once again sell out of foursomes. This is our second largest fundraising event of the year. Our goal is to raise $12,000, that money will go toward the economic development services that we provide throughout Marquette County.
Last year we provided assistance to 396 businesses. Fundraising dollars helped us to provide those clients with general business consulting, business financing, business plan development, site location services, marketing assistance, information and technology assistance and talent development. Through these clients, 321 jobs were projected, 5,890 jobs were impacted and 99 jobs were retained. These businesses invested $34,626,161 in our county! This private sector investment is an average return of nearly $88,000 per client. All of the work we have done with these businesses has been possible because of the many generous sponsors who support LSCP fundraisers and community members who attend these events. Your investment in the LSCP allows for these services to be at an entrepreneur or business owners fingertips.
We never discuss details of a business we’ve worked with without their consent. One business who has given us permission to discuss how we’ve helped them is Cognition Brewing Company. We started working with Jay Clancey and his team when Cognition was simply an idea on paper and that idea grew into reality in only 18 months! We are honored to have worked with them through finding a location, licensing, hiring employees and celebrating their grand opening back in March. We are excited to follow their journey and assist however we can along the way. This is all part of our philosophy of “life cycle economic development.” We want to be a part of our client’s team as they start-up, grow, overcome challenges and eventually define their succession plan.

Clancey, Cognition Brewing Company’s owner, recently posted on their facebook page “the Lake Superior Community Partnership is a fantastic resource. For no charge, they will do a detailed analysis of a proposed business plan regarding customer base, demand for services, traffic, etc. They are very good at this and were a big help to me at Cognition. You can stop in or contact them by phone or email. They are anxious to provide their expertise. Did I mention “at no charge”?”

We really appreciate his kind words and are excited that we have made a difference for his business. If you do have a business or an idea for a business, please stop in. We would love to discuss how we can help and together grow Marquette County. And remember, any support of our fundraising events is an investment in economic development in our region, whether it is attending, donating a prize or sponsoring.

So, back to golf, foursomes for the outing cost $540. That is $135 per golfer, only $5 more than the non-member Greywalls rate and includes lunch, a drink ticket, various golf contests with prizes, a post outing social with hor d’oeuvres, raffle prizes and TONS of great networking opportunities. What better way to enjoy your colleagues and business associates than on a beautiful golf course while supporting your business community. We hope you’ll consider a sponsorship and/or participating in this fun event. Call 906.226.6591 or visit www.marquette.org to sign up.
