Why Advocacy Matters

At the Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP), our mission is to ensure a vibrant local and regional economy through services and programs that drive economic growth, support local businesses, and enhance community development in Marquette County and the Upper Peninsula.

One critical service in our toolbox is tracking legislative and regulatory changes that would impact local businesses and communities. By staying informed and engaged, the LSCP ensures that our community has a voice in the decision-making process and that policies support a strong business climate, job creation, and sustainable growth.

Our Role in Legislative Advocacy

The LSCP team regularly tracks and analyzes legislation and regulatory changes but also collaborates with the Marquette County Ambassadors to amplify our efforts. The Marquette County Ambassadors are a privately funded group of business, education, community, and government leaders, that champion policies that drive economic growth and strengthen our region.

Guided by feedback from our partners and research, we monitor, discuss, and advocate for state and federal legislation that impacts local businesses and the broader community. Through strategic and thoughtful engagement, we ensure Marquette County’s voice is heard, shaping policies that foster a thriving and sustainable future.

Monitoring and Analyzing Policy Changes

We track bills and regulations that impact our economy.

Engaging with Lawmakers

LSCP collaborates with legislators to advocate for policies that benefit businesses and residents. We write letters of support/opposition on potential policy changes.

Providing Resources to Partners

We keep our partners informed about key legislative developments and how they may be affected. We provide letters of support to businesses for grants or legislation.

By staying proactive in legislative affairs, LSCP works to create an environment where businesses and communities thrive, investment flows, and our region remains competitive. Stay updated with our latest legislative insights and advocacy efforts by following our Issues Page.

Policy on Endorsing Candidates

The LSCP does not endorse candidates for office. However, we actively engage with legislators and political candidates when they visit the area. Before General Elections, we seek opportunities to host candidates, allowing LSCP Partners to hear from them directly and make informed voting decisions. These meetings also help LSCP establish relationships with future officeholders, ensuring ongoing dialogue and advocacy.
