At the LSCP we know that advocacy is most effective when voices come together. That’s why we collaborate with local, state, and national partners to track legislation, share insights, and advocate for policies that benefit our businesses and communities.

We work alongside the Marquette County Ambassadors and the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance to advocate for Marquette County’s priorities and ensure our voice is heard in Lansing. Additionally, we rely on the Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to stay informed on statewide and national legislative issues that may impact our region.

Advocacy is strongest when voices come together—no single organization can do it alone. By uniting our efforts, we amplify our impact and drive meaningful change for our community.

Marquette County Ambassadors

The Marquette County Ambassadors are a privately funded group of business, education, community, and government leaders from across Marquette County. Our mission is to promote and foster economic vitality throughout Marquette County and the Upper Peninsula, to carry the story of the Marquette County area to others, and salute those who deserve recognition.

Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance

Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance (NMCA)

The Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance is a coalition of 19 chambers and economic development organizations from across northern Michigan collectively representing more than 8,000 businesses. The Alliance partnership works from the premise that many legislative issues impact the U.P. and northern Lower Peninsula in similar ways. The coalition exists to advocate for rural northern Michigan and move forward rural-centric business policy.

Focus is given to supporting the success of existing northern Michigan businesses, developing and attracting a talented workforce in northern Michigan, and maximizing the competitiveness of the rural northern Michigan business environment. The Alliance includes nine Partners (one being the Lake Superior Community Partnership) two Supporting Partners, seven Associate Partners, and over 7,000-member businesses from across northern Michigan.

Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM)

The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) advocates for policies that support Michigan’s small businesses by engaging with lawmakers, tracking legislation, and influencing policy decisions. SBAM works to reduce regulatory burdens, improve the business climate, and ensure small business voices are heard at the state and federal levels. Through advocacy efforts, they help shape laws that drive economic growth and support entrepreneurs across Michigan.
