Energy Task Force
Background
The Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP) and utility industry partners initially formed an Energy Taskforce to address utility matters in Marquette County but quickly realized that it would beneficial to extend the focus of the group to the entire Upper Peninsula. Regular meetings encourage the exchanging and comparison of energy related issues among the Taskforce members. The mission of the Energy Taskforce will transform as energy needs change and arise across the region.
Committee
The Energy Task force includes industry partners, the LSCP Economic Development team and interested parties from across the Upper Peninsula. The LSCP will provide administrative support for the group.

Additional partners will be enlisted into the Taskforce as recommended by the committee.
Main Objectives
- Develop U.P. Renewable Energy Strategic Action Plan
- Evaluation of alternative energy projects in terms of which best to pursue
- Determine how to handle requests for land, buildings and energy projects
- Evaluate energy needs for economic development
- Study adequacy of wood supply to meet potential demand
- Agree upon which related legislative agendas to support
- Increase community awareness of future energy needs
- Information exchange on alternative energy, both for the local, state and national partners
