Eligible Personal Property Exemption Deadline Approaching

Beginning in 2014 there is an exemption for business owners who have a combined true cash value, within the city of Marquette taxing jurisdiction, of under $80,000. Business owners who qualify for the “small taxpayer exemption” must file the “Affidavit of Owner of Eligible Personal Property Claiming Exemption from Collection of Taxes” with the city assessor by February 10, 2014.

www.michigan.gov/documents/treasury/5076_439273_7.pdf, or by coming into the assessing office to pick one up.  Please remember failure to file the form, if qualified, will result in you receiving a tax bill on property that may have been exempt.
