Getting Involved with LSCP

Posted by on March 2, 2012

“How do I become more involved with LSCP?”  Seems like a simple question that should have a relatively easy answer, right?  It’s a question we hear often from new Partners, and those who are renewing for another year who most likely are in what we call the “low-engagement” category.   Often times, getting involved and maximizing your partner benefits are one in the same.  Truth is, there are plenty of ways to participate, it just depends on what you’re looking for.   Let’s take a walk through our website’s “Participate” menu, and I’ll explain.

As a partner, you have an opportunity to be active in the organization’s mission by participating on many committees, task forces and boards.   Although seats may be limited and each committee may have special requirements, these are a great way to be involved in the direction and goals of the organization.  Learn more on our LSCP Committees page (https://marquette.org/participate/lscp-committees).

One of the best and easiest ways to be involved is by networking and getting to know your fellow LSCP partner at a Business After Hours/Business Showcase.   These events are designed to help you make valuable business contacts, entertain clients, reward employees, spend time with co-workers and most of all, enjoy doing it at the area’s premier networking opportunity!   Inexpensive and informal, Business After Hours/Business Showcases are early evening events ideal for meeting fellow professionals and establishing long-lasting business relationships.  Get a list of 2012 Business After Hours/Business Showcase events on our Business After Hours page (https://marquette.org/participate/business-after-hours).

The LSCP also administers several programs for career and professional development such as the Lake Superior Leadership Academy (LSLA) and 40 Below: Marquette County Young Professionals.   Networking opportunities in their own right, these programs are an opportunity for engagement in the community.  LSLA brings together potential leaders from the area to address pertinent community needs and strengthens their leadership abilities, while 40 Below is a program dedicated to introducing and engaging the young professional into the local business community, helping expand their networking opportunities.  Find out more on LSLA at https://marquette.org/participate/lake-superior-leadership-academyand 40 Below at https://marquette.org/participate/40-below-marquette-county-young-professionals.

Of course, your dues play a vital role in supporting the business and community development efforts of the Lake Superior Community Partnership, helping us to stimulate and sustain a vibrant regional economy by facilitating economic growth and prosperity.  However, if you are looking to enhance your contribution to regional economic development, the LSCP Chairman’s Circle provides an opportunity to join other visionary leaders making economic development in Marquette County a top priority.  Visit the Chairman’s Circle page for more information (https://marquette.org/participate/chairmans-circle).

There really is an incredible amount of ways to participate with the LSCP, but this column would take up the whole page if I were to elaborate any further.  My point is, being an LSCP partner is just like anything else – you get out what you put in.  I recommend checking out our interactive Guide to Business Development & Marketing Resources under our “Join” menu at www.marquette.org to find what works best for you!  Call our office at 226-6591 to learn more.
