Stop Currency Manipulation – Please Take Action
Posted by Lake Superior Community Partnership on May 5, 2015
We need your help! This email is to fill you in on an important jobs issue happening in Washington and to ask for your help in supporting American manufacturing. To connect the dots back home, I am sure you are aware of the idling of the Empire Mine that was announced recently and that this will dramatically affect our region.
Like you, we are worried about our good-paying jobs being sent overseas. Congress is currently considering new trade agreements that could further tilt the playing field in favor of foreign competition. We need to make sure that our voice is heard and that we demand action to strengthen our trade laws and stop currency manipulation.
What can you do to help? We URGE each of you to fill out this petition. By doing so, you will be telling your elected officials that we won’t tolerate trade manipulation by China or Japan. Instead, we want a level playing field that offers American manufacturing a fair opportunity to complete. Take this a step further and share the petition with your staff, friends and family.
The petition has two simple tasks:
1. STRENGTHEN our trade laws. U.S. companies and workers should not have to experience plant closures and layoffs before they can get relief under our trade laws. This makes no sense.
2. STOP currency manipulation. We have already lost millions of jobs to China and Japan. Trade agreements must include strong, enforceable rules. We need better tools to fight currency manipulation under our trade laws.
Please return signed petitions to the LSCP as soon as possible to ensure their timely delivery to our decision makers in Washington. Together, we can keep it made in America!
