Upper Peninsula Young Professional Conference

40 Below: Marquette County Young Professionals is hosting the inaugural Upper Peninsula Young Professionals Conference on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in the Great Lakes Rooms at Northern Michigan University.  The conference is geared toward young professionals to inspire both personal and professional development.  40 Below will provide conference attendees with speakers and breakout sessions chosen to help young professionals on “Life’s Great Adventure.”  This conference will help develop professional networks, increase your social circle and better connect you to your community.
The keynote speaker for the event is Tami Evans, a professional speaker who specializes in quick and useful content with a LOT of humor! Tami is an energetic and well-traveled professional communicator and performer, with an extensive background in both corporate and independent work environments. She holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree, and Bachelor’s Degrees in Communication, Broadcasting, and Theatre. She has had communication and coaching training through CTI, and firmly believes laughter is a vital part of learning and living.  Evans’ keynote address is titled “Rules for Travel on Life’s Great Adventure” which offers tips and tools to make the most of your personal adventure.  Evans will also host a breakout session titled “Escape from Someday-Isle,” where she will help launch your success plan and offer tips on avoiding procrastination pitfalls.

The luncheon speaker will be John Spigarelli, Vice President of E-Commerce and Marketing at Getz’s Inc. With over 14 years of experience in marketing, e-commerce and business development, Spigarelli has been instrumental in cultivating a multimillion-dollar retail platform, while creating 10 full-time professions and over 20 part-time and seasonal positions.  Spigarelli also consults with businesses throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin in regard to e-commerce, marketing, branding, operations and logistics.  Spigarelli will offer insights on the importance of social networking, which has become pivotal for success in today’s world.


The conference will also feature roundtable discussions and breakout sessions, including topics on stress management, home buying, fitness & health, personal finance, attitudes in the workplace, eating smart with local products, polishing your professional image, tips & tools for organization, etiquette in communication, tips on being a good board member and an introduction to service clubs.
