Today, the salon boasts four nail stations, three jet spa massage pedicure chairs, two hair stations, three types of tanning beds, a massage room, and an impressive collection of over 1,500 regular and gel polishes. The salon specializes in hand-painted nail art, eagerly taking on challenges from clients who bring inspirational pictures.

“Our goal has always been to provide a relaxing and valued experience for everyone who visits,” Sarah explains. “We dedicate an hour to each client for their requested service, ensuring they feel appreciated and pampered.”

The salon now has a team of four, including Sarah, two nail apprentices, and a talented hair stylist with 18 years of experience. In addition to nail and hair services, Native Nails Salon proudly displays Native American beadwork that is available for purchase, showcasing the community’s rich cultural heritage.

“We enjoy and appreciate our loyal clients, some of whom have been with us since the beginning, and we love to meet new people. We are always here for your nail care and hair therapy,” says Sarah.

Native Nails Salon keeps its clients informed and engaged through an active Facebook page, updated weekly with the latest work and special offers. Appointments can be scheduled through the Facebook page or by calling (906)395-1349 for nails and (906)236-4045 for hair. The Historic Mather Inn Celebrates Grand Reopening in Ishpeming

June 20, 2024

Ishpeming, MI – The Historic Mather Inn, now known as The Mather, proudly announces its grand reopening after a significant revitalization effort. New owners, Bill Anderson Jr. and Lisa Petersen, launched this journey in July 2022 to restore and enhance the historic building, which had not been approved for occupancy by the county for the past 25 years. The Lake Superior Community Partnership and local dignitaries assisted in the celebration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, marking the official reopening of this historic establishment.

The Mather’s revitalization includes refurbishing the ten existing apartments on the third and fourth floors and adding six new units on the second floor, completed by General Contractor GE Builders. Currently, three of the sixteen units are available as furnished short-term rentals, offering weekly to monthly stays.

The main/first floor of The Mather now features an array of hospitality services. The grand ballroom is perfect for weddings, receptions, banquets, business gatherings, and parties of all sizes, with an event bar on the east end catering to larger events. The grand lobby, housing a 1909 Star Concert Grand Piano generously donated by Jim and Sandy Sodergren, serves as a performance space for local musicians.

The original “gentlemen’s” bar has been modestly renovated to become The Mather Lounge, an old-fashioned craft cocktail lounge that offers a prohibition-era experience with a menu of fresh, classic, and unique handcrafted cocktails and mocktails.

Future plans for the west end of the main floor include potential “feel-good” businesses such as retail spaces, a florist, and a massage therapist.

The next major step in The Mather’s revitalization is the full renovation and expansion of the basement area, soon to be known as The Tap Room. This 4,000-square-foot space will offer a bar with 24 taps for local and regional craft brews, fine wines, and will reintroduce the famous bird baths on Thursdays. The Tap Room will feature a stage for live music and a wood-fired oven for gourmet pizzas and upscale bar food.

“We were drawn to this project because of the rich history that the building holds and the important role it has played in the community,” said Bill and Lisa. “We wanted to bring this back and love sharing our region’s rich history with others. We are overwhelmed by the public’s support, excitement, and the stories they have shared.”

The public is invited to follow The Mather on Facebook for scheduled musicians, upcoming wine tastings, and whisky/bourbon tasting events. For more information, contact The Mather at thematherevents@gmail.com, call 906-204-8350 or 906-250-1352 and look for its website launching soon.

LyonQA is an all-woman, remote-first company based in Marquette County. They are dedicated to empowering organizations to achieve excellence in software delivery through tailored quality assurance solutions, ensuring unparalleled performance and reliability.

Cotopaxi Lyon founded LyonQA, believing that quality assurance (QA) can and should be done better. Cotopaxi stated, “If we stop buying into the frenetic ethos of the tech world — good old ‘go fast and break stuff — we can slow down to do things right. By slowing down, we bring curiosity and empathy back to tech – key elements that we’re losing in this rapidly evolving digital age. LyonQA slows down to bring our clients better results.”

Jes Solomon, the QA Director, and Yana Beeker, the Business Development Manager, are joining Cotopaxi at LyonQA. They share the vision of a human-centric company orienting its services around high-quality, honest, strong internal and external relationships. They are committed to showing the tech world how QA should be embodied.

LyonQA levels up quality assurance by offering custom QA solutions, from integrated manual software testing to quality consulting. By identifying issues before they become code, they serve as the user’s voice during planning stages, flag bugs pre-deployment, and advise on process changes to ensure overall development quality. LyonQA understands that their role is to question and understand what is provided to them and to ask what is missing and outdated. They help clients enhance their overall product by thinking outside of the box.

LyonQA understands that software development is fundamentally an ideation and implementation process. One that requires effective, empathic communication and processes to translate the idea into a product efficiently. Their team helps shift development focus from rushing to results to verifying that the development process has included necessary steps for questioning and clarification. This shift enhances overall development speed, reduces unnecessary money wasted on refactors and bug fixes, and ensures the end user receives the highest quality product.
